01/ Overview
The route
This winter walk is a chance to explore the charming little village of Vers-l'Eglise. Part of the route follows the «Grande Eau» river, the other takes you up to the hills above the village, offering exceptional views of the Les Diablerets mountains and the village.
The winter hike starts almost directly from the Les Diablerets stop. The route initially climbs through the village and out into open countryside. After around one kilometre, the highest point is already reached at just under 1'200 m, below the Tête de Meilleret.
The trail then descends gently, continuing between meadows, woodland and the houses of Les Granges. The lowest point of the circuit lies roughly halfway along the route. Vers-l'Eglise soon follows; the Temple de Vers l'Église stands slightly off the route and remains part of the village scene.
From Vers-l'Eglise, the circuit leads back to Les Diablerets. The final section alternates once more between open countryside and woodland before the Les Diablerets stop is reached again after just under an hour and a half.
