01/ Overview
The route
Hike with magnificent views of the Valais Alps. Visible on the horizon: the villages on the plain, Sion with its castles and patchwork of hillside vineyards. The trail leads uphill through the forest and across snowy meadows, then towards Bouvette de Loutze and back again.
This winter hike of around seven kilometres starts at the Ovronnaz, Chevaley bus stop in the heart of the village. Right at the beginning, Restaurant La Promenade stands directly on the route. The circuit then passes the houses and climbs across open terrain. Sections of woodland punctuate the ascent, which gains around 380 metres in total.
Shortly before the halfway point, the Buvette de Loutze lies close to the route. A little further on, the highest point is reached at just over 1,700 m, not far from La Comoneau. Here the circuit turns downhill. Open slopes alternate with woodland as Ovronnaz draws closer again.
Towards the end, the final stretch leads through the residential area back to Ovronnaz. After a little over two and a half hours, the winter hike finishes back at the Ovronnaz, Chevaley bus stop.
