01/ Overview
The route
Spectacular panoramic views of the Valais Alps await the visitor on the Chemin des Ruinettes path above Verbier. Take the aerial gondola to the Croix-des-Ruinettes top station, where this breath-taking tour begins and ends.
From the Croix-des-Ruinettes stop, the route sets off by the IceCube restaurant. From the outset, it crosses open meadows and pastures. There is no marked trail along most of the approximately two-kilometre route. Careful navigation is therefore required, and despite the short distance, its classification as a difficult hike should be taken seriously.
The terrain climbs gently overall, but almost without respite. Only towards the end does the route join a yellow-marked hiking trail. This leads to the highest point and the destination at around 2,265 m. A good 35 minutes should be allowed for the route, which involves approximately 80 metres of ascent. The La Chaux VS (télésiège) stop is just a few steps from the endpoint. The short tour thus finishes higher than it began, amid the same open mountain landscape that defines its character from the very first metre.
