01/ Overview
The route
Smell the flowers, listen to the birds, feel the soil and the water on your skin - the Sentier des Sens invites visitors to discover nature with all their senses. The nature trail follows the bisse from La Tzoumaz and takes visitors back to the roots of the forest in a playful way.
This six-kilometre circular hike begins directly at the La Tzoumaz, Maison de la Forêt bus stop. The trail initially follows a waymarked route through the forest. Meadows and pastures repeatedly open up between the trees, but the wooded character is maintained until well into the circuit.
With an ascent of only around 120 metres, the route climbs gently. About halfway round, it reaches its highest point at around 1,750 m in the vicinity of the Tête des Etablons. Here it leaves the waymarked hiking trail network for a short stretch. This section makes the otherwise short hike more demanding and requires confident navigation before a waymarked hiking trail is rejoined.
The return route leads gently up and down through forest and open terrain back to the Maison de la Forêt. After just under an hour and a half, the circuit ends at the bus stop of the same name.
