01/ Overview
The route
The easy loop hike shows Val Ferret from its most beautiful side. The hidden glacier valley beckons with its pristine natural beauty and an amazing mountain backdrop.
From the La Fouly VS bus stop, it is only a few steps to the starting point of the winter hike. The route initially passes through the houses of La Fouly and close to the lake of the same name. The Restaurant Edelweiss stands right at the beginning of the route, before the valley opens out. The trail then descends between meadows and sparse woodland via L’Amône and La Seiloz.
At Prayon, the lowest point is reached after roughly half the route. From here, the trail turns back towards La Fouly. The longer ascent first leads through woodland, then emerges once more into open terrain. Near La Maye, the winter hiking trail reaches its highest point at around 1,600 m; the total ascent is just over 200 metres.
The trail then loses a little elevation again over the final section. After just over two hours, the houses of La Fouly come into view, and the circular hike ends near the La Fouly VS bus stop.
