01/ Overview

The route

Cross-country skiing directly in the city – the city trail Kreuzbleiche makes this possible! The shape of an eight divides it into two sections, whereof one is slightly more difficult and also includes an incline and a starting section.

The approximately one-kilometre trail begins near the St. Gallen, Sporthalle stop. Around 15 minutes should be allowed for the route. It crosses open meadows and remains almost level, with a total ascent and descent of around ten metres each. St. Leonhardskirche stands nearby, just over 200 metres off the route. The Neo-Gothic building was inaugurated in 1887.

In the second section, the trail sweeps past Helvetia in a gentle curve. Shortly afterwards, near Steinegg, it reaches its highest point at around 680 m. From there, the short route continues with only slight differences in elevation. The finish is once again in St. Gallen, near the St. Gallen, Stahl KV-Schule stop. The nearest public transport connection is just under 200 metres from the trail.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.

How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
