Flaz Uferweg

The route from Pontresina alongside the River Flaz to Beve is a real treat for the eyes. Surrounded by the majestic Engadin mountains and the wide, flower-filled valley, you follow alongside gently murmuring waters.

The roughly ten-kilometre hike begins at Pontresina railway station. Shortly after the start, the route reaches its highest point at around 1'770 m; from there, the broad hiking trail descends gently through the valley, with only minor uphill sections. The houses are left behind, and after just over two kilometres the trail enters the Stazerwald. Among the trees, shady stretches of forest alternate with open meadows and pastures.

The route then continues almost level across the broad valley floor of the Upper Engadin. After around seven kilometres, it leaves the network of waymarked hiking trails and approaches Lej da Gravatscha. This man-made lake takes its name from the 2'755 m Munt Gravatscha, south-east of the shore. The landscape opens up once more directly beside the water before the trail leads between meadows and the first houses into Bever. After just over two hours, the hike ends at Bever railway station.
