01/ Overview

The route

Langis at Glaubenbergpass is perfect for cross-country skiing and an insider tip for nature-lovers, too: the run to Fröschenseeli passes through a protected upland moor landscape surrounded by pine forests. The area was once a well-known upmarket spa resort.

From the Langis stop, it is only a few minutes to the start of the eight-kilometre trail. It climbs from the outset, reaching its highest point at around 1'470 m near Glaubenstock. The circuit then heads out into the expansive moorland. Moorland and open pasture shape the scenery as the trail gently loses elevation.

At around 1'400 m, the lowest point lies roughly halfway along the route. From there, the trail leads back towards Langis through the open terrain in a gentle series of ascents and descents. Near the end, the Schwendi-Kaltbad mountain restaurant lies slightly off the trail; the Stiftungskapelle is also nearby. After just over two hours and around 190 metres of elevation gain, the circuit ends back in Langis, not far from the stop of the same name.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.

How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
