01/ Overview

The route

Scandinavian feel at the heart of Switzerland: the run in the Langis area winds its way along the Schlieren through an upland moor landscape with birches, mountain pines and glittering Alpine meadows. In bygone days, spa guests would have enjoyed healing moor and sulphur baths here in elegant style.

The roughly six-kilometre cross-country ski trail starts at the Langis bus stop. Leaving the few houses behind, it heads into the moorland and continues across open terrain in gentle undulations. At first, wet meadows dominate the surroundings, after which the landscape becomes broader and more open. By around the halfway point, the trail descends to approximately 1'410 m. The circuit involves a total elevation gain of around 150 metres.

The route then gradually climbs again. Towards the end, the trail passes Bergrestaurant Schwendi-Kaltbad and the Schwendi-Kaltbad Foundation Chapel. Shortly afterwards, it reaches its highest point at around 1'470 m, close to Glaubenstock. From there, only the final stretch back to Langis remains, where the circuit ends at the bus stop after just over an hour and a half.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.

How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
