01/ Overview
The route
The Eiger mountain behind you and the Wetterhorn ahead: Scenery like this automatically ensures you have enough sporting motivation. The famous north face appears in particularly impressive fashion after a loop by the Glacier Gorge (Gletscherschlucht).
From the Grindelwald, Landi stop, it is only a few steps to the start of the cross-country ski trail in Grindelwald Grund. The eight-kilometre circuit leaves the houses behind and runs across open meadows. After the first kilometre, it follows the Schwarze Lütschine. Gently undulating, the trail climbs to its highest point at just under 1,000 m.
The loop then follows the river for much of the way through open terrain. Several gentle uphill sections add up to around 160 metres of ascent, but the route remains close to the valley floor. On the return leg, the Schwarze Lütschine once again points the way before the trail reaches the first houses towards the end. After just over two hours, the circuit finishes back in Grindelwald Grund; the Grindelwald, Landi stop is around 170 metres away.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
