01/ Overview
The route
A gently ascending hike from Grütschalp to Mürren. The geological trail passes through open alpine pastures and woodland, accompanied by information from the Jungfrau Climate Guide on the traces of climate change.
The route begins at Grütschalp station at just under 1,500 m. The Grütschalp Bistro is located right by the starting point, after which the trail climbs gently towards Mürren. Open meadows and pastures dominate the scenery from the outset, with the trail repeatedly entering the forest.
The Jungfrau Climate Guide complements the short route with information on traces of climate change, accessed via the Climate Guide app. At the same time, the route is designed as a geological trail and is listed in the «Erlebnis Geologie» directory. Rather than climbing in numerous steep sections, it ascends almost continuously for just over four kilometres, while remaining on the yellow-marked hiking trail.
Towards the end, the trees begin to thin out and the first houses of Mürren draw closer. After around one hour and twenty minutes, the trail ends at approximately 1,635 m, the highest point of the route. From there, Mürren BLM station is only a few steps away.
