01/ Overview
The route
A panoramic hike with fantastic views of the world-famous icy icons, the Eiger, Mönch & Jungfrau. High above the impressive Lauterbrunnen Valley, the route leads past flower-filled Alpine meadows to Allmendhubel.
From GrĂĽtschalp station, the ascent towards the Allmendhubel takes a little over two hours. The mountain path initially crosses open terrain, gaining altitude steadily. Meadows and pastures characterise the first section, interspersed with short counter-ascents and descents that add variety. Over the five kilometres, the route gains around 520 metres in elevation and descends just over 100 metres.
Higher up, the route enters the forest, while the long ascent continues to dominate. Almost the entire route follows a white-red-white waymarked mountain hiking trail; only the final section is on an ordinary hiking trail. Near the Allmihubel, the route reaches its highest point at around 1,930 m. From there, it is only a few steps to the Allmendhubel above MĂĽrren. The Allmendhubel funicular station is located directly at the destination.
