01/ Overview
The route
A short geological themed trail through Mürren: an app brings signs of climate change to life through audio, while the route winds between village houses to the Marienkapelle and back.
The short themed trail begins in the heart of the village at the Mürren, Schilthornbahn stop. Following yellow waymarks, it leads through Mürren and draws attention to signs of climate change. The accompanying app provides climate information in audio form; the circuit is also designed as a geological themed trail and is listed in the Erlebnis Geologie directory.
After a largely gentle start, the trail climbs slightly between the houses. After just over one kilometre, the route reaches its highest point at around 1,660 m, near the Alpine Spa. From there, it descends again to the Marienkapelle. This small chapel stands directly on the route and was built in 1892–1893 thanks to a donation from Jecker, a parish priest from Biel.
The hiking trail then continues through the village and ends in Mürren. The Allmendhubelbahn station is around 170 metres from the finish.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
