01/ Overview
The route
Churches and chapels, open meadows and views over Lake Lucerne characterise this short circular walk above Morschach.
The Chapel Trail begins in the village square in Morschach, just a few steps from the Morschach, Swiss Holiday Park bus stop. The circuit of just under 3 km initially leads through the village to the parish church of St Gallus. It then leaves the houses behind and climbs between meadows and pastures.
The highest point on this panoramic trail lies at just under 700 m. Morschach’s position above Lake Lucerne is particularly striking here: the view extends across the lake’s many branches to the mountains of Central Switzerland. The Chapel of St Francis and the Chapel of Our Lady stand beside the trail, while the Lourdes Grotto is also part of the signposted circuit.
After the Chapel of Our Lady, the trail descends to Mattli Antoniushaus and its Chapel of St Anthony. In the final third, the route leads through the woodland park before reaching the first houses of Morschach once more. After around an hour, the Chapel Trail ends back in the village square.

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
