01/ Overview
The route
A playful journey from Fronalpstock to Stoos-Seeli: the Fronalpweg crosses open alpine pastures, with imaginative stations recounting alpine farming life, the Betruf prayer call and medicinal plants.
From the summit of Fronalpstock, the Fronalpweg leads almost continuously downhill to Stoos-Seeli. The chairlift takes hikers to the start at around 1,900 m, the highest point on the route. Right from the outset, a sweeping mountain panorama unfolds; at Chänzeli and Sonneninsel, the first stations invite visitors to stop, look and play.
The trail then crosses open alpine pastures to Alp Laui. Along the way, marble runs, a telescope, milk churns and bell puzzles tell of alpine farming life, traditions and rituals. The Betruf prayer call and medicinal plants are also among the themes. The broad hiking trail steadily loses elevation. The route is not suitable for pushchairs, though there is a shortcut at Alp Laui.
Beyond the alp, the long descent continues via Frontal. Rest areas are set out in the meadows before the first houses of Stoos draw closer. The roughly two-hour themed trail ends at Stoos-Seeli. The nearest bus stop, Mettlen, is just over half a kilometre from the finish.

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
