01/ Overview
The route
A steep geological trail leads from Chants through forest and open Alpine pastures into the rocky high mountains. Along the way, an interactive route and a children’s quiz highlight traces of the Ice Age.
From the Bergün/Bravuogn, Tuors Chants bus stop, the geological trail immediately heads uphill. The interactive route is designed for families with children aged eight and over; a quiz accompanies the ascent and draws attention to traces of the Ice Age. Around 800 metres of ascent must be tackled in just over four and a half kilometres. Accordingly, the marked mountain trail climbs steeply out of the small cluster of houses at Chants.
Open Alpine pastures and forest characterise the lower section. Higher up, the greenery increasingly gives way to rocky terrain as the trail continues to gain altitude without any extended flat sections. After just over two hours, the highest point—and the end of the route—is reached at around 2,620 m. Piz Forun is the nearest summit; Fuorcla da Funtauna lies just over 200 m away. There is no direct public transport connection at the high-altitude endpoint. The nearest stop, Bergün/Bravuogn, Tuors Chants, is around 3.7 km away.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
