01/ Overview
The route
A short geology trail through the Zügenschlucht: from the mining museum, the mountain path leads via the Bärentritt viewpoint down to Davos Wiesen.
The geological trail begins at the Graubünden Mining Museum near the Davos Monstein, Schmelzboden bus stop. The starting point is also the highest point on the route, at just over 1,300 m. From here, the white-red-white waymarked mountain path initially crosses open terrain and follows the «Erlebnis Geologie» geology trail. Rather than major elevation changes, rocks and the Zügenschlucht define this short opening section.
The path soon enters the forest and descends mostly gently. After just under four kilometres, Bärentritt lies directly on the route. The viewpoint provides a striking highlight before the mountain path continues through the wooded gorge. A few short ascents interrupt the overall descent of around 200 metres.
After just over an hour, the path approaches Davos Wiesen. The tour of just under five kilometres ends at the Züga-Beizli in Jenisberg; the Davos Wiesen bus stop is only a few steps away.

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
