01/ Overview
The route
Setting off from the monastery village of St. Peterzell in Toggenburg, this hiking route then passes through an animal sanctuary, entices you to take a refreshing dip in the river Necker and winds through a protected floodplain area of national importance.
The hike of just over five hours begins at the Catholic church near the St. Peterzell, Dorf bus stop. Right at the start, the yellow-marked trail climbs to the highest point near Züblisnase. At around 750 metres, the high point has already been reached. The route then descends across open meadows and through the small settlements of Furt and Spreitenbach to Brunnadern. Standing slightly off the route is the Baroque Reformed church by Johann Ulrich Grubenmann, which has been under federal heritage protection since 1964.
Beyond Brunnadern, pastures, stretches of woodland and scattered houses alternate. The trail continues through the gently rolling landscape via Necker and Rennen, mostly with slight ascents and descents. After around 500 metres of ascent in total, downhill sections predominate in the final part. Near Lütisburg, the route once again crosses open countryside before the first houses of Bazenheid draw closer. After passing Restaurant Edelweiss, it is only a few more steps to Bazenheid railway station.

Brücke Mühlau

Die Brücke Mühlau ist dauerhaft für sämtlichen Fuss- und Fahrverkehr gesperrt. Eine neue Wanderwegverbindung wird ab dem 26. Juni über die neue Energiebrücke im Schachen bei Jonschwil geführt.

Das Ende der Route in Bazenheid ist nicht direkt erreichbar. Die Mühlaubrücke ist aus Sicherheitsgründen für Fuss- und Fahrverkehr dauerhaft gesperrt. Der Weg Lütisburg–Mühlau ist zwar begehbar, allerdings ist dort kein Übergang über die Thur möglich. Wandernden wird deshalb empfohlen, bis Lütisburg zu wandern und dort den Bus zu nehmen
