Nesslauer Rundweg

This round tour starts in Nesslau, a small municipality set in superb landscape. It offers the ultimate in relaxation. The major attraction, the River Thur surrounded by lush and rugged terrain, is a must for all nature lovers.

The circuit, which takes just under an hour, begins at Nesslau-Neu St. Johann railway station and leads across the valley floor of Nesslau. The route initially passes through a residential area and by the Gasthaus zur Mauer. In Neu St. Johann, the first section runs outside the marked hiking trail network. Houses and roads soon recede, giving way to open meadows.

The circuit continues along the yellow-marked hiking trail with no significant ascent. Near the Inselikapelle, the path enters a short wooded section before returning to open countryside and later to Nesslau. Shortly before the finish, the route reaches its highest point at around 760 metres. From there, it is only a few steps back to the starting point at the railway station. At four kilometres in length and with an elevation gain of only around 40 metres, the circuit is ideal for a short hike between village and meadows.
