Panorama Rundweg Thunersee, Stage 1/4

Starting in the historical town of Thun with its mediaeval castle, the hike takes you past a number of idyllic places including Hünibach and Aeschlen, shortly before you reach the spectacular Sigriswil bridge with its panoramic views high above Lake Thun.

From Thun railway station, the hiking trail initially leads through the town to Lake Thun. The water remains close by for a while as the route follows the lakeshore before reaching Hünibach. The urban scenery then gives way to woodland, open meadows and sparsely built-up slopes.

The trail now climbs steadily. The forest provides shade for long stretches, while clearings in between offer views back towards the lake. The Nussbaum viewpoint is an ideal place for a break. The roughly 600 metres of ascent are spread over several climbs, so the hike requires stamina despite following an easy, yellow-marked trail.

Towards the end, the landscape becomes more open. Passing the Rüttacher picnic area, the route leads to Restaurant Panorama and continues to Sigriswil. At just under 800 metres, the village is also the highest point of the hike. After a little over three and a half hours, the route ends just a few steps from the Sigriswil, Dorf bus stop.
