01/ Overview
The route
This scenic circular walk follows the Wirzweligrat to Gummenalp, then returns to Wirzweli through flower-filled alpine meadows and along varied mountain trails.
The circular walk begins among the houses at Wirzweli mountain station. Before long, the mountain trail climbs across alpine pastures to the Wirzweligrat. After around an hour, the highest point is reached near Gummen at 1,584 m. The panorama opens up at the viewpoint near Gummenalp, beyond which flower-filled alpine meadows line the trail.
The route continues via Rohne and Dürrenboden, with steady ascents and descents through open alpine terrain. A narrow mountain trail makes up most of the circuit, which is just under ten kilometres long. The trail eventually descends to Alp Langboden, where the Langbodenstübli stands directly on the route.
The route continues through Hinter Huismatt onto the Wetterhexenweg and briefly through woodland. After passing the barbecue site, the circuit returns to Wirzweli. The chapel stands a few steps before the mountain station, where the walk of just over three hours ends.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
