01/ Overview
The route
Close to the village, «La Monse» snowshoe trail is accessible to most people. A short walk with no major difficulties, it offers a beautiful panoramic view of the village of Charmey.
The circular snowshoe route begins at Lodzetta in Charmey, a little way from public transport. The nearest stop, Charmey (Gruyère), Le Chêne, is just over 300 m away. The route initially climbs through open terrain.
The roughly 3 km loop gains around 190 metres in elevation. The route passes directly by the Chapelle de la Monse. The ascent then continues to the highest point, reached about halfway around the loop at just over 1,000 m. The Vanil de la Monse is nearby, but the route remains well below the summit.
The route then returns across open slopes to Lodzetta. After approximately an hour and a half, the loop ends back at the starting point; the Le Chêne bus stop is again just over 300 m away.
