01/ Overview
The route
Do you fancy an energetic walk with a unique view? This route takes you through forests and clearings to the Cousimbert. The view alone is worth the walk: from the Lac de la Gruyère, the Swiss Plateau and the Jura mountain range can be seen along with the Chasseral.
From the La Roche FR, La Berra stop, the snowshoe trail initially climbs through open terrain at Le Brand. The route gains height rapidly before entering the forest. Over six kilometres, it ascends around 740 metres; just under four hours should be allowed for the route.
Higher up, sections of forest alternate with open slopes. Cousimbert remains almost 300 metres to the side of the route, meaning the trail does not cross the summit. The ascent then heads towards La Berra, the 1'719 m summit in the Fribourg Pre-Alps. Shortly before the end, the route reaches its highest point there.
From the highest point, a short descent leads to the finish at La Berra, just a few steps from the stop of the same name.
