01/ Overview
The route
The snowshoe route starting above Charmey is located in the heart of the Fribourg pre-alpine region. It leads through forests, across clearings and along rivers. On this easy tour, you can admire the Dents Vertes above the Charmey ski area.
The three-kilometre snowshoe loop begins at the intermediate station of the Télécabine Charmey. Right from the start, the route climbs briskly across open slopes. After just under a kilometre, the highest point is reached near Brenlox at around 1,340 m; most of the total ascent of approximately 260 metres is covered by this point.
The loop then descends towards the valley, remaining mostly in open terrain. Near the end, it reaches its lowest point at around 1,110 m. A final short ascent leads back to the intermediate station of the Télécabine Charmey, after a total of just under two hours.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
Snowshoeing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
