01/ Overview
The route
This trail takes you to the top of Vounetse. From the midway station on the cable car, the route crosses the mountain pastures and the ski area before reaching the summit. The second part offers a beautiful panoramic view with the mountain Berra, the Vanil Noir and the Moléson.
The snowshoe circuit starts at the intermediate station of the Télécabine Charmey, with no public transport stop in the immediate vicinity; the nearest stop, Vounetse, is just over a kilometre away. The route initially crosses open terrain, briefly losing some altitude. The long ascent then begins, climbing broad slopes and passing through woodland in places on the way up to Tissiniva.
Above the mountain restaurant, the nearby summit of Vounetse remains in view. The highest point of the circuit, at just over 1'600 m near the summit, is reached after almost two hours. By this point, the route has gained around 560 metres in elevation.
The return route descends in a wide loop, first across open ground and later once again among the trees. After a total of five kilometres and just over three and a half hours, the circuit ends back at the intermediate station of the Télécabine Charmey.
