01/ Overview
The route
In the Guriners’ world, with snow shoes, you can experience unforgettable moments in unspoilt natural beauty while discovering the Walser culture. You will be amazed by the hospitality you will find in Bosco Gurin, the highest village in Ticino situated in the upper Vallemaggia (Maggia valley).
The snowshoe trail starts on the edge of the village at the Bosco/Gurin (Talstation) stop. From the first houses, the route climbs uphill, gaining around 520 metres in elevation over five kilometres. It initially crosses open slopes before the forest takes up much of the ascent.
The long climb to Grossalp continues among the trees. Clearings add variety and bring the open terrain back into view. Martschenspitz is the nearest summit, while the route continues without a detour towards its high-altitude destination.
Shortly before the end, the trail passes Rosboda. After a little over two and a half hours, it reaches Bosco Gurin, Grossalp. At just under 2'000 metres, this is also the highest point of the snowshoe tour. The Bosco/Gurin Grossalp stop is just a few steps away.
