01/ Overview
The route
This educational nature path winds its way through age-old larch woods, exploring the wonderfully unspoilt Bedretto Valley, an enchanting area that is perfect for snowshoe excursions and ski mountaineering. What’s more, when in Cioss Prato: don’t miss out on a visit to the mineral cave.
The four-kilometre snowshoe circuit begins right by the Cioss Prato (Bedretto) bus stop. From the houses of Ciòss Prato, the route initially heads up the valley across open terrain. After just under a kilometre, the houses of All’Acqua come into view; this is where the noticeable ascent begins.
Above All’Acqua, the route continues to gain elevation. Just over a third of the way round, it reaches its highest point at around 1,680 m. It then turns back towards Ciòss Prato, alternating between open ground and forest. The elevation gained is gradually lost again over gentle ups and downs.
Shortly before the end, the circuit passes the Buvette Cioss Prato Estate. After just under two hours, it closes the loop back at the Cioss Prato bus stop.
