01/ Overview

The route

One of the prettiest routes in the Leventina. Surrounded by larch forest, it leads through the enchanting Boscobello and into the Val Piumogna, which is crossed by the river of the same name.

The snowshoe circuit starts in the village of Dalpe, near the Dalpe, Villaggio stop. The route begins its ascent between the houses and soon enters the forest. The trail climbs steadily through the wooded slopes, passing directly by Boscobello. The total ascent amounts to around 300 metres.

Higher up, the forest thins out and gives way to open terrain. After just over five kilometres, the highest point is reached near Sasso Cristallina at around 1'420 m. From here, the circuit descends again, alternating between forest and open ground. Near Polpiano, the final descent begins towards the first houses. After eight kilometres and a good three hours, the snowshoe tour ends back in Dalpe, not far from the Dalpe, Villaggio stop.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • Snowshoeing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.

How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
