01/ Overview
The route
Constantly sun-drenched, Carì is the ideal starting point for wonderful rides with snowshoes. In winter, this tiny village in the Leventina valley, situated at an altitude of 1,655 m above sea level, lights up and comes to life.
The snowshoe circuit starts at the Carì Croce bus stop and winds through the houses of Carì. Ristorante La Pineta is located right by the starting point. The route initially climbs into the forest before emerging onto open slopes higher up. The long ascent accounts for most of the roughly 460 metres of elevation gain and leads towards All’Uomo. After just under three hours, the highest point is reached near the summit at just below 2,000 metres.
Shortly afterwards, the route passes Osteria Belvedere. From here, it descends towards Carì again. Open terrain once more alternates with forest as the return leg quickly sheds the elevation gained on the ascent. After a total of around seven kilometres and just under four hours, the circuit ends back at the Carì Croce bus stop.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
