Caischavedra Trail

A pleasant climb up through the Val Segnas with views of the Medel glacier. From the viewpoint at Caischavedra, you have a wonderful view right into the Surselva. Then you can take the easy way down in the cable car.

The snowshoe tour begins in the heart of the village at the Segnas, casa da scola stop. For the first few metres, the houses remain close by before the route leads into open terrain. With no extended respite, it climbs steadily, gaining almost 580 metres in elevation over a distance of only around four kilometres. Beyond the open slopes, the forest takes over and accompanies much of the ascent.

Towards the end, the forest recedes again and Caischavedra draws closer. After a little over two and a half hours, the route reaches its highest point at around 1'870 m, shortly before the destination. Piz Las Palas is the nearest summit. From there, it is only a few steps to Disentis, Caischavedra. Restaurant Caischavedra lies around 40 m off the route; the Caischavedra (Disentis) stop is located directly beside the end point of the snowshoe trail.
