01/ Overview
The route
A snowshoe trail for peace-seekers: After starting at Campra, the trail takes you through quiet pine forests up to Dötra. Alpine nature, charming stone houses and far-reaching views to the mountains of the Blenio Valley make the tour an enjoyable winter experience.
The six-kilometre snowshoe loop begins at the Campra, Bivio bus stop. The route initially climbs through open terrain, with occasional stretches through the forest. Elevation is gained steadily on the way to Dötra, while the houses in the valley recede into the distance.
Dötra is reached just before the halfway point. The Oratorio San Domenico and Grotto Dötra da Zio stand close to the route. Shortly afterwards, the tour reaches its highest point at Sasso, at around 1,750 metres. This also marks the end of the long ascent, with a total elevation gain of around 400 metres.
The return route descends through alternating open areas and woodland. After just over three hours, the loop ends back at Campra, Bivio, only a few steps from the bus stop.
