01/ Overview

The route

This delightful snowshoe circular tour starts in Cancorì and leads along a route with a magnificent view of the Blenio valley and its mountains in the heart of the alps. Worthwhile detours: the popular Pela bar, wooden swings with panoramic views, and a tipi with a fireplace.

The five-kilometre circular snowshoe trail begins at the Cancorì stop. Initially, the route climbs through open terrain towards Fopa. Beyond the houses, the ascent continues, reaching the highest point at around 1,610 m after just under two kilometres. By this stage, most of the approximately 240 metres of ascent have been completed.

Beyond the crest, the trail descends towards Addi before sweeping in a wide arc across the open slopes. Small clusters of houses punctuate the otherwise open landscape along the way. With alternating, mostly gentle ascents and descents, the snowshoe trail continues to Promesciallo and Pianèzza. The terrain remains predominantly open throughout.

The final section follows a longer, gentle descent via Pié del Sasso back to Cancorì. After just over two hours and around five kilometres, the circuit ends where it began, directly at the Cancorì stop.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • Snowshoeing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.

How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
