Rotten-Weg Bitsch–Lalden

The popular Red Mile from Bitsch to Brig offers glorious panoramic views over the Rhone Valley and the Alps surrounding it. The hiking trail from Brig leads through the colourful landscape along the river Rhone to Lalden. The river landscape and mountains of Valais are sure to make for an unforgettable hiking experience.

A pleasantly flat, ten-kilometre hike begins at the Bitsch stop. Within the first kilometre, the route reaches its highest point at just under 700 m. The profile then remains gentle, following mostly yellow-marked hiking trails through residential areas towards Naters. Along the way, Bistro Im Fäld lies directly on the route, offering an easy option for an early break.

Beyond Naters, the houses and roads gradually recede, and open meadows come to define the route. A longer intermediate section runs outside the marked hiking trail network before the route rejoins a hiking trail. With no major climbs, it continues at an easy gradient, making it ideal for a brisk outing of just over two hours.

Towards the end, the route passes close to Restaurant Zur Traube and shortly afterwards leads through Brigerbad. The final section is again not marked throughout. The destination is Lalden; the Lalden, Dorf stop is located directly beside the endpoint.
