01/ Overview
The route
From Willisau’s old town, this circular route climbs steeply to a panoramic ridge, then crosses meadows and woodland to Hergiswil before returning along the Enziwigger.
From Willisau railway station, the circular hike initially leads through the old town and past the Landvogteischloss, a cultural property of national significance. The steep ascent to Vorberg then begins. Between meadows and woodland, the path gains the ridge between the Enziwigger and Buechwigger and continues via Mörisegg to Lindenegg.
The route follows the ridge in a steady succession of ascents and descents. Near Buechehübeli, it reaches its highest point at around 800 m, with views opening up across the Napf hills. The path then descends across open countryside to Hergiswil bei Willisau, where herbs are cultivated around the village. Those wishing to shorten the hike can connect with the PostBus here.
On the return route, fields, small settlements and stretches of woodland alternate. At Breiten, a playground and a fire pit with a toilet are located directly on the route. The path then follows the Enziwigger back to Willisau. Passing Heiligblut Church, it leads through the first houses and finally returns to Willisau railway station.

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
