01/ Overview
The route
From Willisau’s old town, this high-level hike leads through the meadows and forests of the Napf hill country up to Menzberg, passing the chapel of St. Joder and crossing the highest point near Chrüzhubel.
From Willisau railway station, the trail initially leads through the old town and past the Landvogteischloss. The building is listed as a cultural asset of national importance. Beyond the last houses, the broad hiking trail climbs between meadows and pastures into the Napf hill country, with stretches of woodland adding variety along the way.
The route continues across the heights of Chalchtaren and Vorberg, at times out in the open along ridges and at others through woodland. At Lindenegg, a barbecue site lies close to the trail. Later, the route reaches the mountain chapel of St. Joder, known locally as Tioderchäppeli. Along the way, an information panel explains the panorama and geographical features. At Oberlehn, a lime tree with seating provides a pleasant place to rest.
On the final section, the trail crosses the high plateau to the highest point near Chrüzhubel at around 1,080 m. It then descends to Menzberg, the highest village on the Napf. Shortly before the village square stands the Landgasthof Hotel Menzberg; the hike ends at the nearby PostBus stop.

How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
