01/ Overview

The route

A short nature hike through the Fallenfluhwald: plenty of woodland, a few open areas and quiet paths away from the marked hiking trail network characterise this short circuit.

The circuit starts at Handgruobi, around one kilometre from the bus stop of the same name. Initially, the route leads away from the marked hiking trail network into the Fallenfluhwald. Here and there, meadows and pastures open up between the trees. As the path lies within a wildlife refuge, recreational use may at times be restricted or prohibited.

In the second half, the circuit briefly follows a marked hiking trail. With no significant ascent, it reaches its highest point at just under 1,200 m near Rotenflue. It then continues through the forest before descending gently, once again away from marked trails, to the starting point at Handgruobi.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
