01/ Overview
The route
From Rotenflue, the route passes behind the two Mythen via Holzegg and Haggenegg to Mostelberg. Lake views, open pastures and woodland accompany this panoramic hike, which runs mainly downhill.
The Rotenflue cable car carries hikers from Rickenbach to the starting point on Rotenflue. At around 1,566 m, the highest point comes right at the beginning. The broad hiking trail descends across open pastures to Stäglerenegg and continues to Holzegg, where the Bruder-Klausen-Kapelle stands close to the trail. Along the way, views of lakes and layered mountain ranges accompany the route.
Behind the two Mythen, the trail alternates between woodland and open terrain. The striking rock pyramids of Grosser Mythen and Kleiner Mythen rise close above the route. After the longer descent, the trail climbs again to Haggenegg; the mountain inn stands directly on the route, followed shortly afterwards by the Haggenegg-Kapelle.
The route then continues mainly downhill on a gentle hiking trail towards Mostelegg and Mostelberg. Near the end, the Sattel-Hochstuckli facilities appear among meadows and woodland. After around three and a half hours, the approximately nine-kilometre hike ends at the Sattel Mostelberg mountain station.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
