01/ Overview
The route
A short ridge hike from Gietisflue to Schartihöreli: across open alpine pastures to views of the Urnersee, followed by a steep descent through the wildlife protection area.
The Chlital–Gietisflue cable car provides access to the starting point at Gietisflue. From the upper station, the mountain path climbs across open pastures to Wanggrat. After just over half an hour, the summit cross on Schartihöreli marks the highest point at around 1,680 m. The view extends down to the Urnersee; binoculars are worthwhile.
The route then descends via Vorderwang towards Hinter Wang. Open alpine pastures initially dominate the landscape, before the forest draws closer. The wildlife protection area begins at Hinter Wang. The descent becomes steeper here and requires care on the mountain path.
Via Ronentüti, the path continues to lose considerable elevation and leads through the forest to the lower station of the Chlital–Gietisflue cable car. After just under six kilometres, the hike ends there at just over 1,030 m. The lower station is not served by public transport; the nearest stop, Isenthal, Dorf, is around 1.4 km away.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
