01/ Overview
The route
Legendary figures and traditional crafts accompany this long mountain trail over the Schartihöreli. Along the way are steep alpine pastures, stretches of woodland and views down to Lake Lucerne.
From the Isenthal, Dorf bus stop, the route follows the Alter Chlitalweg to the Gietisfluh valley station. An exhibition there provides an introduction to the Uri Legends Trail. Four sculptures depicting legendary figures and three craft stations with QR codes explore stories and traditional crafts from the region. The cable car offers an opportunity to shorten the ascent here.
The mountain trail continues uphill via Gietisfluh, Hinter Wang and Vorder Wang. Stretches of woodland alternate with open pastures, while designated legend and rest areas provide places to stop along the way. The detour to the Schartihöreli requires sure-footedness. Near the summit, the route reaches its highest point at around 1,670 m.
The long descent begins via Obere Scharti and Mittst Scharti. Farther down, Lake Lucerne comes into view before the trail returns to the Isenthal valley near Kirchenrüti and Saum. The Via Urschweiz leads to the Church of St Theodul, from where it is only a few more steps back to the Isenthal, Dorf bus stop.
