01/ Overview
The route
Urner dialect on stones, literary voices in the ears and Urnersee in view: this circular hike combines a scenic mountain trail with two small cable cars above the slopes of Isenthal.
The Urner Dialect Trail begins at the Isenthal, Dorf PostBus stop. Words from the Urner dialect appear on stones along the way, while QR codes in a flyer provide access to literary audio recordings. The route leads via Wissig and Sack, leaving the houses behind and entering the forest. The Wissig–Furggelen cable car can be used to assist with the ascent. The mountain trail then climbs steadily through forest and across open pastures.
At around 1'400 m, the circular hike reaches its highest point roughly halfway along the route. In the Scheidegg area, views open up down to Urnersee. The route continues via Hell to Obere Bärchi; from there, the cable car to Vordere Bärchi completes the small cable-car safari. There is a barbecue area by the valley station. The return route leads via Hintere Bärchi and Gubeli, re-enters the forest and descends rapidly. After a good three hours, the houses of Isenthal come back into view. The circuit ends in the village directly by St. Theodul, just a few steps from the PostBus stop.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
