01/ Overview
The route
This round tour combines the terms «water» and «mountain» and offers countless beautiful views on Arosa and its surrounding. The trail passes the Altein waterfalls and the Altein lake before making a loop around the Schiesshorn mountain, including the possibility to climb to the peak.
From the Arosa stop, it is only a few steps to Obersee, where the circular hike begins. The trail leads through the houses and out of the village, soon climbing through woodland and across open slopes. After the first long ascent, it passes the Alteiner Wasserfall; from there, the white-red-white marked mountain trail continues uphill. Alteinsee lies slightly off the route at around 2,250 m.
The Schiesshorn Furgga is reached across increasingly rocky terrain. Shortly afterwards, near Amselegg, the highest point of the tour lies at around 2,430 m. The Schiesshorn rises prominently above the route but remains off the trail. The long descent now begins, initially across open Alpine pastures and later through woodland once more.
On the valley floor, Stausee Arosa lies slightly off the route, which does not lead along its shore. The final kilometres follow an easier hiking trail through the first houses. After around 14 kilometres and a little over five hours, the circuit closes at Obersee and the Arosa stop.
