01/ Overview
The route
The challenging ascent leads past the recreational complex on the Mostelberg. Around the Engelstock and along the eastern slope of the Mythen, spectacular panoramic views of the lake and mountain scenery of Central Switzerland open up time and again.
From the Sattel stop, the hiking trail leads out of the village and soon climbs into the green hills. Stretches of woodland alternate with open meadows and pastures. The ascent is spread over several sections but remains steady, with a total elevation gain of around 900 metres. Along the way, Mostler‘s Q-HOF and Engelstockweid lie directly on the route and offer good places for a first rest.
The trail then continues uphill to Haggenegg. By the chapel, the highest section has almost been reached; shortly afterwards, the route arrives at its highest point at just over 1,400 metres. The Berggasthof Haggenegg follows a little further on. Towards the end, the rocky forms of the Mythen come to the fore. Through a varied succession of woodland and pasture, the route finally leads to Holzegg. After around twelve kilometres and a good four hours, the hike ends at the Holzegg stop.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
