01/ Overview

The route

Following the river Inn along the valley, the cross-country ski trail runs through open countryside, light woodland and charming Engadine villages. It is possible to join or leave the trail in various places; there are also additional optional loops for the more demanding skier.

The 21-kilometre cross-country ski trail begins at the Scuol, Serras bus stop at just under 1,200 m, also the highest point of the route. It initially leads downhill through open terrain, with gentle counter-climbs adding variety along the way. Stretches of woodland punctuate the long route through the Lower Engadine before the trail passes close to Sur En after a good two hours.

Open areas and woodland continue to alternate. Without any major changes in elevation, the route gradually loses height and reaches Strada in its final third. The Reformed church in the village centre, a place of worship protected at cantonal level, lies slightly off the trail. From the houses, the track leads back out into open terrain and continues eastwards along the valley.

After a good five hours, the cross-country ski route ends in Martina at just over 1,000 m, not far from the border with Tyrol. The nearest bus stop, Martina, cunfin, is around 300 m from the endpoint.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.

How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
