01/ Overview

The route

Step by step from alp to alp, exploring the flora and fauna around Torgon: This hike leads through a varied landscape up to Conches and captivates with views over lake Geneva and towards the Mont Blanc. Another highlight awaits you at the end: the suspension bridge over the Avançon river.

The 14-kilometre circular hike above Torgon begins at the Les Fignards bus stop. The yellow-waymarked hiking trail climbs steadily, alternating between open meadows and woodland. The ascent defines the first half of this technically easy route, with a total elevation gain of around 800 metres.

Around halfway, the Chapelle de Recon and Restaurant La Bourri stand directly beside the trail. The route then climbs once more, shortly reaching its highest point at around 1,730 m near La Truche. Open terrain shapes the landscape here before the return route increasingly enters the forest. The long descent leads back to La Jorette and completes the circuit at the starting point. The hike takes a good four and a half hours and calls for solid fitness rather than particular sure-footedness. The Les Fignards bus stop is just a few steps from the finish.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
