01/ Overview
The route
Discover the beauties of the Jura through a fantastic crest trail offering exceptional panoramic views from the Mont-Blanc to the Säntis and from the Chasseron to the Vosges. The hike ends with a path edged with tall wooden statues as well as numerous benches and a well fitted out picnic place.
From Les Hauts-Geneveys railway station, the yellow-waymarked hiking trail climbs out of the village towards the wooded Jura heights. After the first long ascent, the route passes close to the Tête de Ran at 1'422 m. Open pastures alternate with stretches of woodland as the trail continues with gentle ups and downs along the broad ridge.
In the second half, the route climbs towards Mont Racine. At 1'439 m, it is the highest point of the hike. The descent then begins: across open slopes and through further sections of woodland, the trail gradually returns to inhabited areas. At Marmoud, La Sagne draws closer, with the destination directly beside the railway station. Just under four hours should be allowed for the twelve-kilometre route, which includes around 680 metres of ascent.
