Sentier du Talent

A beautiful hiking tour in the forest along the Talent River. It is particularly well suited for families and can be done any time of the year. It offers a wide variety of flora and fauna as well as impressive structures, such as Montheron Abbey, old mills and waterwheels.

The hike begins at the Echallens bus stop in the heart of the village. It soon leaves the settlement behind, following yellow-waymarked hiking trails through a changing landscape of open meadows, fields and woodland. The gentle profile should not be underestimated: over the full distance, the route gains around 280 metres in elevation.

After around four kilometres, the trail reaches Malapalud. Longer stretches of woodland then define the middle section, interspersed with open areas. Without any major steep sections, the route continues to Bretigny-sur-Morrens. The villages provide brief interludes on a hike whose character is shaped above all by the alternation between the edges of settlements, farmland and woodland.

Towards Montheron, the trail climbs once more. Near the finish, close to Plamont at around 710 m, lies the highest point of the hike. From there, it is only a few steps to the Montheron, La Râpe bus stop. A little over two and a half hours should be allowed for the ten kilometres.
