Walking along the river, you will come to some bridges in Bressonnaz, where you can cross both the river Broye and the river Carrouge. On the way to Vucherens, you will enjoy unobstructed views of the Fribourg Alps and the Jorat woods. When descending towards Lausanne, you will see the Savoy Alps and Lake Geneva.

From Moudon, gare station, the hiking trail leads through the village, past the Reformed Church of Saint-Étienne and the Château de Moudon. It then follows the Broye for a good two kilometres before climbing via Syens and Vucherens through meadows, fields and patches of woodland into the rolling countryside of the canton of Vaud.

Near Montpreveyres, open terrain alternates with extensive forest. The highest point, at around 900 metres, is reached roughly halfway along the route, near the Tour de Gourze. The route then descends to Chalet-à-Gobet and continues on a long descent through the forest towards Lausanne.

At La Clochatte, the houses become more closely spaced. The trail returns once more to green surroundings and runs directly beside the man-made Lac de Sauvabelin; shortly afterwards, the Signal de Sauvabelin offers a view over the city. The route continues through the built-up area to the Château Saint-Maire and Notre-Dame Cathedral, one of Switzerland’s most important Gothic buildings. After just under eight hours, the hike ends in Lausanne, a few steps from the Pierre Viret stop.
