Alpine Panorama Trail, Stage 25/29

Without any uphill parts at all and yet with wonderful views of the Savoy Alps. You hike from the Lausanne port of Ouchy along a wide lakeside path to the old town of Morges with its imposing castle and one-time naval harbour for the Bernese.

From the Lausanne, Ouchy-Olympique stop, the hiking trail leads to the shore of Lake Geneva. Amid promenades, harbour facilities and open green spaces, the city gradually recedes. At the Port des Pierrettes, boats and water once again come into view.

Around halfway along, the route reaches St-Sulpice and passes directly by the Romanesque church. Shortly afterwards, at around 380 m, it reaches the highest point of the walk. The barely perceptible difference in elevation characterises the rest of the route: almost level, the trail heads west through open countryside and along the lakeshore. Built-up areas repeatedly alternate with quieter, greener sections.

Towards the end, the lakeside amenities of Morges herald the destination. The approximately 13-kilometre walk ends near the castle, which was built for military purposes in the 13th century and now houses a museum. The Morges, Casino stop is just a few minutes’ walk away.
