Promenade du Littoral de Morges

The route leads through the lively old town of Morges, the Parc de l'Indépendance and then past the castle to the picturesque harbour. With an impressive view of the lake and the mountain panorama with the Mont Blanc as a backdrop, the route continues along the lakeshore to Préverenges.

The six-kilometre circuit starts at Morges railway station in the heart of the town. With no significant ascent, it first leads through residential neighbourhoods to the Château de Morges. Built for military purposes in the 13th century, the château stands almost directly on the route and has served as a museum since 1925. Shortly afterwards, the trail reaches Lake Geneva, where the open water replaces the urban setting of the opening section.

Further on, the route alternates between open spaces and built-up areas. It remains almost entirely level and runs mostly along straightforward hiking trails, with some unmarked connecting paths in between. This makes the circuit well suited to a short outing, where the rhythm is set less by the ascent than by the alternation between lakeshore and town. Towards the end, the trail passes the Protestant Temple de Morges and returns through the streets of Morges to the railway station. Just under an hour and a half should be allowed for the approximately six kilometres, with only around 20 metres of ascent in total.
