Alpine Panorama Trail, Stage 26/29

First along the lake shore then over meadows and fields, through airy forests, past vineyards and villages, castles and villas to the medieval town of Aubonne. Wakker Prize winner St-Prex on Lac Lèman is well worth a stop.

It is only a few steps from the Morges, Casino stop to the starting point. The hike begins by Morges Castle, close to Lake Geneva, and briefly follows its shore. It then leaves the town behind. A yellow-waymarked hiking trail heads west through open meadows, fields and small settlements.

After around two hours, the route reaches Saint-Prex. It passes the church of Saint-Prothais and skirts the castle. Between the villages, open farmland alternates with short stretches of woodland. The 19-kilometre route remains mostly gentle, gaining elevation only gradually.

Beyond Buchillon comes Allaman. Here, the route passes close to Allaman Castle, a stately residence with medieval origins. Towards the end, the trail climbs to Aubonne and reaches its highest point at around 510 m shortly before the destination. After just under five hours, the hike ends in Aubonne; the Aubonne, gare stop is just under 300 metres away.
